Vietnam's foreign direct investment (FDI) surges from Singapore

According to the Vietnam Ministry of Planning and Investment, in the first 20 days of 2020, Vietnam gained US$5.3 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI), up 179.5% year-on-year. It came in the form of additional FDI, capital contributions and share purchases by FDI's foreign investors.

Singapore was Vietnam's largest foreign investor in the same month, with more than $4.05 billion, accounting for 90.9% of total FDI.

Last year, Singapore was the third largest investor ($4.5 billion), South Korea ranked first ($7.92 billion), and Hong Kong (China) second ($7.877 billion), followed by ..

Vietnam has received approximately $3.82 billion in FDI in 2020.This is a record high, up 7.2% on an annual basis.
