Ford announced that it will suspend production at its assembly plant in Vietnam in response to the increasing pandemic impact of the new coronavirus.

Ford says it will continue to shut down production for a few weeks starting March 26th, depending on illness developments, government regulations, supplier practices, customer demand, and assembly plant inventory. Together with Vietnam, Ford has decided to suspend production of vehicles and engines at other manufacturing sites, including India, Thailand and South Africa.

Nissan Vietnam said the dealerships in Hanoi and Da Nang have already closed and this time it will shut down the new Danang car plant.

Nissan said the employees would stay home from April 1st to 15th, and the suspension would continue until further notice from the Vietnamese government.
